Hello there! Recently I have been experimenting to find a look that will last all through those hot summer days when your face feels like its about to melt off! This makeup is bright and natural-looking, and perfect for summer!

I didn’t use all these products for my look, what I have done is included a few different ones which you can choose between depending on your skin type and whether you prefer to use cream or powder products.

So let’s get into it then 🙂

First off, I applied rosehip Oil as a moisturiser which my skin has really been loving.

Then, after I had given it enough time to sink in I used my RMS lip2cheek in smile and placed it along the tops of my cheekbones. I was rather heavy-handed with this product because, I discovered this super awesome tip which I am really diggin’ right now: all you do is go over the top of the blush with your powder foundation to get a look that’s natural and ‘glowing from within’.

If you prefer powder blushes, or just want to try out an awesome natural blush, I HIGHLY recommend the Zuii Organic blush in ‘Melon’- a gorgeous coral-pink shade with just a hint of gold shimmer. Seriously I have been loving this blush for Spring and Summer, and I believe it has been touted as the natural dupe for the NARS Orgasm blush.

Next I went over my face with the Honeybee Gardens pressed powder in ‘Supernatural’. This colour is now perfect for my slightly tanned Summer skin, however in the Winter-time I use ‘Geisha’. Lemme just say- I freaking LOVE this powder!! It is so dense, gives AMAZING coverage, and yet still looks natural and slightly dewy, especially with well-moisturised skin underneath.

If you have really dry skin or prefer liquid foundation, I would recommend using RMS uncoverup along with the Terre d’Oc BB cream. I find that this BB cream is initially difficult to work into the skin, but as long as my face has been sufficiently moisturised, after an hour or two it ends up looking quite lovely, plus the colour is a perfect match at the moment. If you have really pale skin you probably won’t be able to use this, as Rose Petale is the lightest shade and it’s still rather dark 😦

Next up I lined the top and bottom of my eyes with my Dr. Hauschka eyeliner in 04. I find this preferable to a black eyeliner during the day as it looks more soft and natural to tie in with the rest of the makeup. Then I applied lashings of the Ere Perez Natural Waterproof Mascara, which I am STILL loving, especially in Summer when mascara is more likely to melt and transfer onto yo’ under-eye area (really not a good thing).

I used RMS uncoverup as an under-eye concealer with a small brush and also applied a bit of Living Luminizer to the inner corner of my eyes to make them pop. This product also works well when applied to the tops of the cheekbones and under the brow-bone.

After moisturising my lips with the Jurlique Lip Balm I went over it with my Zuii Organic lipstick in Pink Flesh, which is a beautiful nude-ish colour with just a hint of pink (hence the name lol). I find that this lipstick really compliments either blush and is also super moisturising. No dry lips here, girl!

Finally, if you wish to apply a bronzer, I have been loving Beach Bunny from Silk Naturals. The colour is definitely not orange and it has just a hint of shimmer to get you all in that fun Summer mood

Hope you like my go-to Summer makeup look! If you have any questions or would like me to review individual products, please feel free to leave a comment. 🙂

Have a lovely day, wherever you are!

Review: Ere Perez Natural Waterproof Mascara

Image

Hello mah peeps! 😀

I’ve been buying a lot of new products recently because I have something big planned in about a month’s time, and I want everything to be perfect!

One thing that I’m guessing a lot of girls would miss when making the switch to natural products is waterproof mascara…am I right? Well, I never really missed it because I never really used it, but it certainly has its place- e.g. stinky, sweaty days, wet days, gym days, pool/beach days and special occasion days when you know there’s a strong likelihood of a few tears being shed.

SO with that being said, I set out on a mission!! I was gonna find a waterproof mascara that was as natural as possible! I love making a new discovery, so when I landed on Ere Perez’s ‘natural waterproof’ formula, I knew I had to check it out…and so I did, and here are my first impressions

Description: A superb blend of avocado and mamey oil  that cares for your lashes. Exercise, party and swim-proof, 24-hour wear. A very thick formula that doesn’t smudge. Perfect for sports and parties! For very thick, black lashes.

Ingredients: carnauba (copernicia cerifera) wax , palm (elaeis guineensis) wax, soybean (glycine soja) wax, cyclomethicone, dimethicone, calcium stearate, mamey (pouteria sapota) oil, avocado (persea gratissima) oil, sweet almond (prunus amygdalus dulcis) oil, isopropyl palmitate,  palmitic acid, tocopheryl acetate, shellac, orange (citrus aurantium dulcis) oil, lemon (citrus medica limonum) oil, bergamot (citrus aurantium bergamia)oil, CI77499, CI77510

Yeah, k, so it does contain silicones, but you’d have to agree that overall it’s pretty natural. Besides, I don’t think silicones are actually THAT bad (only a 2 and 3 on EWG cosmetic database). I was initially concerned about the presence of shellac, but after a bit of research I couldn’t find any real dirt on it. If you’re a vegan though this is not a good thing for you- shellac comes from a beetle!

Price: $28.95 on the website, but I think there are some places where you can get it a few bucks cheaper http://www.ereperez.com/shop/3/natural-mascaras/natural-waterproof-mascara-black.html

Smell: quite a strong smell- not entirely pleasant, but nothing too offensive. I can’t quite put my finger on what it smells like exactly, but the closest thing I can think of is a glue stick!

Application: wand is standard, nothing special. Applies like you would expect a mascara to apply, although feels kind of wet and lightweight when you first use it.

Length: I was pleasantly surprised- quite nice definition and lift. It’s nothing terribly dramatic, but I was overall quite pleased. You can see by the photos how well it worked.

Volume: not a GREAT deal of volume, but enough in my opinion. I really like the way it darkens the lashes.

Waterproofiness: I tested this by flicking water in my eye area and running my fingers through the lashes to see if it would leave any residue. DAYUMM IT ACTUALLY WORKS! Nothing on the fingers! It only comes off if I scrape it off with my nails, but I think that’s pretty normal.

Removal: this was actually kind of difficult to remove, and call me crazy, but I think that’s a good thing, because it just shows how effective it is. It did eventually come off, however, with my Rejuva Minerals eye makeup remover.

So far, so good- I am really happy with this product. I suppose I really should be for the money I paid for it 😀 If things change dramatically and I end up hating it, I’ll let you know, but at this stage I’m lovin’ it!
